ALL CHANGE IN DISTRIBUTION
APTEC Holdings forms new entity to acquire certain aspects of Tech Data Middle East after broad line distributor sites profitability for decision to withdraw from market.
The Middle East IT distribution sector has witnessed its first major piece of consolidation after APTEC holdings confirm the acquisition to Tech Data Middle East.
The merger potentially creates a distribution of more than US$600m a year – second only to Redington in terms of regional sales.

Summary: Aptec Holdings, a leading distributor and provider of IT, telecommunications and professional services in the Middle East, yesterday announced the acquisition of the regional operations of Tech Data Corporation for an undisclosed amount. Making the announcement, Dr. A Ali Baghdadi, Chairman and CEO of Aptec, said by combining the operations of the 2 companies in the region, Aptec's revenues would cross $1Bn (Dhs3.6Bn) in two years.

Summary: Aptec Holdings is to assume responsibility for up to 14 franchises and distribution agreements formerly held by Tech Data, the regional IT products distributor. Tech Data is withdrawing from the Middle East and handing its enterprise and components business throughout the region to a new entity, TD M.E., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aptec Holdings. TD M.E. will operate from the current Tech Data offices in Dubai, to maintain business continuity.
